Attention Parents:
Tomorrow we are responsible for Assembly and all of our class must be in Dress Uniform!! The following things need to be finished for our assembly program:
  • Each student should know their part for the assembly program tomorrow.
  • All the "memory" posters for the program should be complete. Remember BIG, BOLD, AND BEAUTIFUL!
SS- We will be giving our final presentations for our State Projects tomorrow. Please do not forget the suitcase with 6 to 8 visual aides (items related to your state).

Please remember that you need to be in dress uniform tomorrow!!!

1) Write four thank you letters for our assembly. Make sure one is the teacher you were assigned.

2) Please memorize your part of the poem (if you have volunteered for a part)

3) Please write down three memories in complete sentences that you have about academy at the lakes.

4) Prepare for your presentation make sure that you have 6 to 8 items to bring in a suitcase or a travel bag. You need to be ready for presentations on Wednesday.

***As a reminder we will be preparing food for next week. I have not decided on a specific day. It all depends on our presentations and how long they take. Be prepared to have your recipe ready during sometime next week though.

ATTENTION PARENTS:

There is a time change for the field trip. Your child should arrive at the school at 5:00 and we will be leaving at 5:30. Our program is not starting until 6:45. The students do not have to wear their uniform, but must follow non-dress code attire. That means no spaghetti strips, tank tops, graphite on shirts, and no blue jeans. They must bring appropriate PJ's for the boys and girls to be together. We are not allowed to take electronics or board games into the park.

SS- Continue State Project:
8. State Plate- show the current state license plate and create one of your own.

10. State Monument/National Park - Print pictures of a monument in your state or pictures of a national park in your state.

11. Write a Description of a Major City- Pick a major city in your state and provide pictures and reasons why you consider this to be a major city.

SS: Continue on State Project:
5. State Flag and what it represents. Show a picture of the state flag and then create your own flag using symbols that represent features of your state.
6. Make a Mini-timeline. This should be done on white or colored paper not lined paper. Pick four major events that occurred in your state and put them on the time line with pictures. They may be drawn or computer generated.
7. Complete Brochure with pictures and sell your state. Be persuasive with lots of descriptive language. The first fold should have a map with descriptive language to interest the reader. The middle inside fold should have a list of the facts in item #2 with pictures below. The third inside fold should have attractions. The back flap should have two paragraphs describing your state. The back middle fold should be your last opportunity to sell your state and invite people to visit.
9. Find an authentic recipe from your state and write it out. DO NOT BAKE THIS FOR TOMORROW!!! Decorate your recipe with pictures, but please DO NOT BAKE!!

Please make sure that the pictures are the correct size. They need to fit on your brochure. The best bet is to print them out in color rather than having to color them in. The best way to change the size of pictures is to do as follows:

Go to google images
click on show picture full size
Right click on picture
click on copy
open up word
paste into word
click on the picture
there will be squares around the picture which means that you can resize it.
This way you can print a few pictures on one page and you can choose the size you want.

Museum Display Guidelines
GOAL: Create a museum display about the Northeast. Choose people, places, and events to include in your display. Write brief reports about the people, places, and events. Create at least two artifacts, drawings, timelines, maps and journal entries to go with your reports.
Step 1
Brainstorm ideas about how you will design your museum display. For example, will it be in chronological order?

Step 2
Work together to decide what information your groups wants to show in your museum.

Step 3
Use your research to think of creative ways to show the information to visitors, use maps, drawings, models, time lines, quotes.

Step 4
Organize your items in the museum display in a design. Make sure that information is easy to understand.

Step 5
Take turns reviewing the groups work. Are all the facts correct? Is everything labeled?

Nouns review for test next week-Rules for Forming Plurals
Remember that a plural noun names more than one person, place, thing or idea

Rules for forming plurals
1. Most singular nouns you add –s. Ex: street-street
2. Nouns ending in s, x, ch, or sh add an –es. Ex: dress-dresses, ax-axes, bench-benches, dish-dishes.
3. Nouns ending with a vowel and a y you and an –s. Ex:valley-valleys
4. Nouns ending with a consonant and y you change the y to an i and add an –es. Ex: city-cities, cranberry-cranberries.
Many nouns don’t become plural according to the regular rules. The following shows you the different patterns for forming the plurals of these nouns.
1. Nouns ending in f or fe- change the f to v and add: es to some nouns. Add -s to other nouns.
Ex: life-lives, calf-calves, leaf-leaves, cliff-cliffs

2. Nouns ending with a vowel and o: add an –s
Ex: rodeo-rodeos, radio-radios, studio-studios

3. Nouns ending with a consonant and o add: -s to some nouns, add –ed to other nouns.
Ex: solo-solos, piano-pianos, hero-heroes, echo-echoes, tomato-tomatoes

4. Nouns that have special plural spellings: foot-feet, woman-women

5. Nouns that remain the same in the singular and the plural: trout-trout, deer-deer, sheep-sheep
